What happens if AWML cease to exist?

Abacus Wealth Management are not licensed to hold client money at any time during the process. If AWML cease to exist, your investment will continue without interruption. You would merely need to appoint a new financial/investment adviser.

Can AWML provide me with advice on my investment?

AWML will review your application documents at set up, to provide an overview that your investment choice makes sense. AWML will not provide ongoing advice unless specifically asked to do so and such advice will be subject to our usual advisory fees as detailed in our terms of business. AWML will conduct an annual review in respect of all AWSP investment options to ensure that they remain suitable in general rather than client specific terms.

Can AWML help me decide how much risk I want to take?

No. That is your decision.  It is important to understand the relationship between risk and return. Put simply, the higher the risk of your investment, the higher the potential gains and losses. The AWSP allows you to decide how much risk you are able and willing to take. Below are some general guidelines on the principles of risk and return:

  • Timeframe: History tell us that the longer you stay invested, the better your return prospects are. The investment risk you are exposed to (because of fluctuations in the value) tend to even out over time.

  • Diversification: Spreading your money across different types of investments rather than relying on one asset class may help shield you from drops markets and deliver more consistent returns over time.

You will undertake a detailed risk profile assessment during the application process and your answers to the risk questions asked will have a direct influence on the risk profile suggested for you. AWML will review this to make sure this output makes sense and will only contact you if does not.

How do I stop, start, freeze, or increase/decrease my premiums?
  • Freeze plan – Cancel your standing order to SIM. Your money remains invested, and fees continue to be payable as detailed in the fee schedule
  • Increase/decrease monthly saving – Amend your standing order and notify SIM online. You cannot choose to reduce your premiums below the £100 per month minimum.
  • Change the amount of risk you want to take – Done online via the SIM portal
  • Cancel plan - money is withdrawn from your account– Instruct SIM online. Your investment will then cease, and your money will be transferred to your bank account.
